Author: ANTONIAZZI Romeo – Cremona 1908

Romeo Antoniazzi, Gaetano Antoniazzi’s eighth child, initially worked with his father and brother Riccardo in Leandro Bisiach’s workshop. However, regardless of opportunity or necessity, he also worked independently with his brother in the workshops of Antonio Giacomo Monzino and Giuseppe Barlassina, as well as for Bisiach.

The unstable nature of his life influenced his work, which was rather uneven in quality. His most interesting instruments, like those of his brother Riccardo, are those produced from the late 19th century.

Although his lutherie style is less refined than that of his brother (especially during his later years), he still produced instruments with a strong personality and great spontaneity, which are highly admired today. His varnish varies in color and quality depending on the period, ranging from a light yellow-orange to an orange-brown, sometimes dark brown.
